Dryer Balls Delight

270951 I realize these have been on the market for quite a while, but when I first saw them they were somewhere in the 25-35.00 range. While at Fry's buying things I didn't need I saw a bin of these blue wonders for 9.99. Having read all the wonderful reviews about them I was excited.

Last night I finally got to use them. My (ahem, my brother's) dryer is older and for medium-large loads to fully dry you have to run them through two cycles. So I took a load of towels and socks, threw the balls in and crossed my fingers. Sure enough, everything was dry in just one cycle!

I haven't really done a "fluffiness" test, but everything seemed to come out nice and soft.

A blunt cake

Teen-pregnancy-birthday-cake

Either this teen was being encouraged to get pregnant or the decorator decided that sugary sarcasm was appropriate for the situation. I'm assuming this cake was a joke because I don't want to believe it could be real. [via Cake Wrecks]

Garden Pictures...finally!

So I got a new camera and that seemed to be motivation to take pictures of my, poor, unattended garden that seems to be plugging along greatly with very little effort on my end

CIMG0016
My experimental corn. I can't believe it's even growing..it barely gets any light!
CIMG0017
My squash-patch. way too crowded and, thanks to this photo session, I found out something is eating the blooms. Thank goodness I have some left over chicken wire.
CIMG0021
My tomatoes! They grew super tall (trying to get to the light), but now they've got little green lovelies all over!

Will the real Iron Man please stand up?

It's really hard to believe but this Iron Man suit was made by a fan. Apparently crafted from fiberglass and said to be exactly like the suit in the movie. amazing. [via My Disguises]

Dumbell waterbottle, heavy on the dumb light on the work out

Sports_bell2

I don't often rant about products on here, but this is a good idea gone completely wrong. I have a feeling that lady didn't get a sculpted body from these waterbottle-dumbells, they're only 1lb. I mean, it would have been a great concept if it wasn't so sissy. Even if they were a decent weight (even 5lbs!) drinking out of them would kind of ruin a real workout...since you'd be lifting lighter and lighter weights instead of pushing yourself to do 10 more reps at a challenging weight. From a design aspect it just looks like someone squeezed the middle of a boring looking waterbottle. This could have gone to so many wonderful places, I weep for what it could have been....[via Gizmodo]

Migaloo isn't the only white humpback

Migaloo1

According to the BBC news Migaloo, the white humpback whale, isn't the only albino whale anymore. Apparently there were sightings two years ago of a white calf swimming closely to it's normally colored mother. This new albino whale, which has some darker streaking near it's head, is thought to be that calf and there is speculation that it could be the offspring of Migaloo himself.

Fake Yoga Toes update!

Toestretcher

I know I said I would update in two weeks and it's been.....oh geeze...I dunno how long, but way longer than two weeks. I didn't update because I didn't really wear them enough to feel like I could give an educated review.

The first thing you should know about any of the "yoga toes" type stretchers is that they hurt. Yes, the first time you smoosh your poor toes into the seemingly too small holes you are going to be in pain. You are also going to worry about the blood supply to those pinched piggies. But they will be fine. They will get their normal blood supply and after a few "sessions" you'll be able to wear them for 20-30 mins without any pain. I suggest wearing them for 5 mins the first time and work your way up from there. The first time you take them off you will feel like all of your toes are bruised and too sore to walk on. Fear not, they are fine.

So do they work? For me yes. Like I said in my original post, there's really nothing wrong with my toes. I'm paranoid that my slightly protruding big toe "knuckles" are the beginings of bunions. I fear bunions. I don't see any huge difference in the bunion area, but really, there was probably nothing wrong in the first place. What I DID find was that my two curved pinky toes have started to straighten out. I didn't have an issue with them, I just figured everyone's pinky toes are different, but they are definitely less curved.

I would say that if you have major foot problems/pain you should really see a dr., but if you're like me or you actually do have slight bunions or maybe even curled pinky toes I think these do the trick. You have to be diligent though. I wear mine every night for at least 25 mins which has been great because I like to read before bed anyway.

This made me laugh

It wasn't just the fact that there's actually an "angry mob" playset, but the caption nerd approved wrote in their blog entry had me in stitches: "Hey Stormtrooper! Yeah you with your fancy armor. We don’t like your kind here! And that goes for you too Gi-Joe! We know you ain’t anatomically correct!" you can buy this set (and many others like glow-in-the-dark zombies) at Archie McPhee.

1954

Meet Me at Mikes had a great idea of typing a year into the search bar on flickr and posting any of the interesting pictures that you find. It's probably something you could spend an entire day doing because what isn't interesting about old photographs??

I chose 1954, it was the year my dad was born:

AntyDiluvian took this picture of his brother playing cards with a neighbor girl. I absolutely love that dress and how his pants are rolled up with the chuck taylor-ish shoes on.

1528123442_53b7949acc Aroid remembers this as a car trip where he and his brothers shot squirrels. I love the colors and the fence in the background...just a really amazing picture.

another family photo from Aroid. This whole scene reminded me of Christmas at my dad's parent's house. The tree, the lamp, the curtains...exactly like theirs.

I love how the baby is totally enjoying it's perilous situation. I can't tell if the lady is coming to the baby's rescue or if her arm is leaning on the wire, but either way she seems to think it's all pretty funny.

This is a shot taken at Coney Island. The disapproving ladies are the dapper gentleman's sisters....they were probably ready to leave after a long day of fun but had to wait for him to finish playing. That's how brothers are.

both of the above pictures are from C-Monster.

What a girl wants!

Emma is one lucky girl! Who wouldn't want a mustache and chest hair on their birthday cake. Now I'm sad that my birthday has already passed. Made by Alicia
